Septic Technician

Cleaning and repairing septic tanks
Septic technicians clean and repair septic tanks, sewer lines, and drains. They may also patch tank walls and partitions, replace damaged drain tile, or repair underground piping breaks.
Maintaining septic systems
Septic technicians perform routine maintenance on septic systems and associated components and lines.
Inspecting and troubleshooting
Septic technicians inspect septic system, pump tanks as needed, give options, and expertly explain issues to customers.

Communicating

Septic technicians communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and customers.

Driving

Septic technicians drive large pumper trucks to and from customers location.

Using tools

Septic technicians use a variety of tools, both hand and power tools, to do their job. Equipment may include power rudders, high-velocity water jets, bucket machines, and plumbers snakes.

Updating maps

Septic technicians update maps and manhole charts as modifications are made.

Septic technicians typically need a high school diploma or equivalent and 1 to 12 months of on-the-job training

Compensation: $17.00 - $26.00 per hour
